New Website Launched

Happy new year to you all. Many of you may have noticed that our old website had become somewhat neglected in recent months this was because we were developing a brand new site.

The old site was using old technology and it had become difficult to keep up to date. The new system makes it a lot easier for us to update the site and also allows contributions from yourselves, our audience.

Site visitors can comment on articles and registered users can post to the Community Notice Board to let others know about what your organisation has been up to or any upcoming events. This section is pretty bare at the moment so please contribute anything you would like to publicise. Do not worry if your contribution does not appear immediately as it will need to go through an approval process.

The site is still under development and we would appreciate any feedback, please call us or use the contact form. Some ideas for things we may add in the future are:

  • Events calendar with upcoming events section on the front page.
  • Improved user profiles and add full WCVS staff profiles.
  • Add more social aspects to the site.
  • Blogging.
  • Sign-up for email newsletter.

If there is anything you would like to see added please let us know.

We hope you like the new site and we look forward to your comments and contributions.

A huge thank you goes to Niall Molloy who was on a work placement with us through one of our employability programmes. Without Niall’s tireless help and expertise developing this site it would not exist today.

Technical note:

The website will look and work best with a modern standards compliant browser although it should degrade gracefully and still work with versions of Internet Explorer.  The recommended browsers are Firefox, Chrome and Safari (included on a Mac), all are free to download and use.
