Wansbeck Winter Fundraising Conference
Wansbeck CVS held a funding conference in November which encouraged groups to adopt a more entrepreneurial approach to fundraising. Representatives from 24 groups in the area had the opportunity to listen to guest speaker, and fundraising expert, Mark Butcher who provided an interesting and informative session on the subject. Mark also provided advice on annual reports and marketing which will support funding applications.
During the day there were also presentations from leading funders including The Sir James Knott Trust, Comic Relief and the Northern Rock Lottery Fund. Rachael Ward from the Heritage encouraged groups who have an interest in heritage to apply for funding. The Heritage Lottery Fund would like to see more groups from Wansbeck applying to their funds. Jim Mackison provided guidance on funding from the Community Foundation and advised on Grassroots Grants. Again groups from Wansbeck were encouraged to apply. Attendees enjoyed a buffet lunch and afternoon tea and had the opportunity to meet the funders for one to one advice.
The event took place at Trinity Church Hall in Ashington and Wansbeck CVS would like to thank the Church for the use of their facilities and all the funders for taking the time to take part.
