New government website on youth unemployment will list work placements and volunteering opportunities
What’s Your Destination is the new government website providing links to charities with opportunities for young people.
The site will include links to a range of opportunities for young people, including jobs, work experience, apprenticeships, higher education and volunteering. The volunteering section of the site will provide a list of links to the websites of charities that work with young volunteers.
The site has been developed and funded by U-explore, a company that sells technology products to schools. Andy Pickles, chief executive of the firm, said the company had spent between £10,000 and £15,000 on it so far, but partner organisations in the private and voluntary sectors might have to provide funding for it in future.
A temporary version of the site is online now and available at http://www.whatsyourdestination.co.uk/, and the full version of the website will be launched in August.
