How We Can Support You

Volunteer Centre - Volunteers - Look Here!

As part of Wansbeck CVS the Volunteer Centre covers the Wansbeck and Castle Morpeth areas, promoting volunteering throughout the community. We also work with voluntary organisations to develop policies and good practice.

We recruit and refer volunteers who are then placed with registered organisations, who meet our criteria. We have a library of publications relevant to volunteering and provide training events for volunteers and voluntary organisations.

Enabling - Improving quality of life.

Carers Together- Do you care?

The Enabling project provides volunteer enablers for elderly and disabled people in the Wansbeck area. We promote independence through activities including the Assisted Shopping Project and the Computer Project, as well as providing one to one enabling support.

We work at a county level to help improve services for carers. We also hold monthly meetings and act as an information point for carers.

Carers Together is funded by the Big Lottery Fund and Northumberland Care Trust to support unpaid carers in South East Northumberland by: -

  • Providing information for carers to guide them through their caring role.
  • Organising informal events, coffee mornings and get-togethers around the area.
  • Provide training sessions, which are designed to cover issues of most importance to carers in their caring role.
  • Providing carers with an opportunity to have a voice and influence issues of importance throughout health and social care services.

For more details go the enabling or carers section of this site.

Network - Get your groups voice heard

The Wansbeck Voluntary and Community Sector Network represents the aims and aspirations of all local groups who are working for the good of the community in the Wansbeck area. For more details go the Network section of this site.

New Deal - Voluntary Sector Option is designed to help 18-24 year olds, who have been unemployed for 6 months or more, back to work. The option does this by offering a six month placement with a local voluntary organisation. For more details go the New Deal section of this site.
