Get Hooked On Fishing - Call for Participants
Get Hooked On Fishing targets young disaffected people and uses fishing as the engagement tool to help try and address issues they may have through modular work. As well as teaching the finer skills of angling, the project also focuses on formal learning about health and safety, environmental issues, conservation etc whilst also with the long term aim of training the young people up to be peer mentors which includes training them on presentation skills, various standard procedures (equal opps, anti bullying etc), building up self esteem/confidence and eventually having them train other young people on the scheme.
To find out more about this opportunity or other ways you can volunteer, contact Mark or Ann at the Volunteer Centre, part of Wansbeck CVS on tel: 01670 858688, email: v.centre@wansbeckcvs.org.uk or text volunteer + your name to 07800 432 401.

A volunteer is a person who donates their time and skills freely.
As well as helping your community, you can gain much from volunteering.
Volunteers come from all walks of life; young, elderly, disabled, employed, unemployed, students; anyone who has some time to give can be a volunteer.
The Volunteer Centre, covering the Wansbeck and Castle Morpeth areas, promotes volunteering throughout the community and works with all volunteer involving organisations to develop policies and good practice.
